How to determine your pool has a leak in 3 easy steps
It’s normal for your pool to lose some water to evaporation, some to splash out, and some to backwashing your filter. However, if you’re routinely needing to add more than 2-4 inches of water to your pool per week, you may have a leak. Here’s an easy way to determine if you have a leak:

You will need a 5-gallon bucket and a large black marker.

1. Place the empty 5-gallon bucket in the water on the second step of your pool. Fill the bucket with water to match your pools’ water level. Use the marker to mark the water level inside the bucket.

2. Turn off any auto-refill device you may have as well as your recirculating pump.

3. After 24 hours have passed, check to see if the pool water level and the water inside the bucket remain even. If the water remains even, your pool is losing water due to evaporation.

4. However, if the pool water is lower than the water inside your bucket, you may have a leak. Repeat these 3 steps over the next 24 hours to get a more accurate judgment as to if your pool has a leak.
